Silk Naturals : le cas des nouveaux gloss / the case of the new glosses

J'ai récemment acheté deux gloss de la dernière collection de Silk Naturals. Ce sont un peu des gloss 'de luxe' dans le sens où l'emballage est beaucoup plus classe que leurs autres gloss.

I have recently purchased two glosses from the last Silk Naturals collection. These are 'luxury' liquid glosses. By that I mean that the packaging looks a lot more classy than their regular lip glosses.

J'ai fait l'acquisition de 'zone' qui est une couleur neutre plutôt marron, du genre qui fait très naturel, mes lèvres mais en mieux:

I bought 'zone' which is described on the site as a sheer pinky nude and is a neutral brown-based color, (think MLBB) , great for everyday wear:

et 'infinity', un rose corail très gai qui sera parfait pour le printemps (si il se décide à venir, chez moi il faisait -1° ce matin hum hum):

and 'infinity' which is a corally pink, a really 'happy' color that I thought would be great for spring (if spring finally decides to come, it was -1°c (30°F) this morning where I live!):

Voici donc ce que j'en pense.

Here is what I think about them

Les avantages :

• l'emballage : de l'extérieur il est vraiment très beau
• la contenance : le flacon contient 11 ml de gloss alors que les autres gloss de la même marque sont beaucoup plus petits. En même temps ça vous arrive souvent de finir un gloss? (en ce qui me concerne c'est rare, il faut en général que je les jette avant d'arriver au bout).
• Les couleurs : elles sont très belles et assez pigmentées (surtout 'infinity') donc si on met plusieurs couches on peut vraiment intensifier la couleur. Je vais beaucoup les porter, c'est sûr.
• L'odeur et le goût : comme d'habitude avec Silk Naturals, ils sentent très bon (la vanille) et ont bon goût.
• La texture : elle est parfaite, pas collante mais le gloss reste quand même longtemps (bon, bien sûr il faut réappliquer en cours de journée quand même, ce n'est qu'un gloss!).

Pros :

• The packaging: from the outside what's not to love it's gorgeous!
• the content : it contains 11 ml of gloss which is a lot more than their other lipglosses. Then again do you often finish lip glosses? (occasionally I do but they usually go bad on me before I finish them).
• the colors : they are beautiful and I will definitely wear them a lot. They are quite pigmented, especially 'infinity' and the color can be built up, which is always a plus.
• the smell and taste: as usual with Silk Naturals, they smell divine (of vanilla) and taste good.
• the texture : perfect, not sticky but it stays on well (but of course you need to reapply throughout the day, this is only a gloss).

Vous allez me dire avec tout ça, c'est vraiment le produit idéal non? Eh bien non, pas encore.

With all those pros can there be any cons then? Well, yes.

 

 

 

Les inconvénients :
Cons:

• le pinceau, le satané pinceau. Le gloss n'est pas muni d'un applicateur mousse mais d'un vrai pinceau avec des poils. A la première utilisation, j'étais ravie et je l'ai rapidement rangé dans le flacon (comme la plupart des gens, je n'ai pas trois heures le matin pour me maquiller) et quand je l'ai ouvert pour la deuxième fois arrrghh : les poils étaient dans tous les sens! • The packaging and now I'm talking about the brush, the damn brush. The gloss does not come with a doe-foot applicator but with a bristle-brush. The first time I used it I was delighted. I quickly pushed it back in the container (like most people I don't have a ton of time to get ready in the morning) and the second time I opened the gloss and took the brush out of the container, it was wonky. And I'm not talking about a few stray hairs. It was BIG TIME WONKY. Just have a look at the picture.

J'ai envoyé un mail à la propriétaire qui m'a gentiment répondu qu'il fallait laisser les poils se plier sur le bord du flacon avant de ranger l'applicateur (mais ça laisse du gloss sur le bord du flacon, je dois donc l'essuyer et c'est encore autant de temps de perdu grrrrr). Donc même si je peux encore les utiliser, c'est beaucoup moins agréable. Honnêtement je ne pense pas en racheter, je préfère un emballage mois classe mais plus pratique!

 

I wrote an e-mail to the shop owner to tell her about this problem and she kindly replied that you have to let the bristles fold on the rim on the container before pushing it back inside (but this leaves gloss on the rim, which I don't like so I have to wipe it clean which means more time lost). So while I can still use the glosses, it is not nearly as pleasant as it should be and I don't think I will repurchase this kind of glosses. I would rather have a less swanky but more practical packaging.

• Le prix : ils coûtent 8,99 dollars et ce n'est peut être pas cher pour beaucoup de filles mais pour moi c'est déjà plus que ce que je dépense habituellement et avec les problèmes que j'ai eu avec le pinceau (sur les deux gloss, tant qu'à faire), je trouve que ça n'en vaut pas la peine.

• The price : they retail for 8.99 dollars and while it may not seem pricey for a lot of girls, it is for me and considering the problems I have had with the brush, it is not really worth the price, for me anyway.

Pour conclure : c'est un excellent produit dans un mauvais emballage!
To conclude : it's an excellent product in a crap packaging!
